Realizing the Fairy Meadows Dream in the Heart of Nanga Parbat

Fairy Meadows stands right in front of Nanga Parbat, which at 8,126 m is one of the highest peaks in the world. The Nanga Parbat acts as a backdrop to the beautiful and scenic Fairy Meadows, which is a major tourist attraction in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. It is a 3,300 m is a grassland near the base camp of the Nanga Parbat Mountain where climbers from all over the world hike from April to the mid of September.

The hike of Nanga Parbat is considered to be among the most difficult hikes in the world as the mountain is usually covered in snow and the tiring conditions take a toll on the human body. A great number of climbers have faced harsh difficulties climbing this mountain in the world due to which it has been given the name of Killer Mountain. However, there is the facility of climbing the mountain using a jeep and enjoying the breathtaking views in the way.

We were traveling through China and after spending a few weeks in Tibet; we left China and flew to the Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan, which is home to the highest mountain ranges of Karakoram. We found a restaurant in the Gilgit city and started to plan our visit to the fairy meadows at the base of Nanga Parbat.

Traveling from Raikhot Glacier to the Tato Village

Raikhot glacier is in the Raikhot valley, which is another marvel of nature in Gilgit Baltistan. We started our journey to the meadows while traveling over the Raikhot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway and reached the Tato village. We booked a beautiful cottage here before starting our climb to the Fairy Meadows.

Hiking to the Fairy Meadows

We spent the night in our cottage and started our hike to the top of the meadows’ peak early morning on the next day. It is a five-kilometer track, which takes almost three to four hours of traveling. We had started the hike early in the morning so the weather was amazing and the visibility was excellent. We had our guide with us who took us along the path and we were able to reach the peak of Meadows in almost three and a half hours.

We took awe-aspiring pictures from the top of meadows, which become a highlight of our visit to the Asian part of the world. The hike to Nanga Parbat starts from the Meadows but it is only for the expert climbers. We came back to our cottage after spending a few hours on the top in order to explore other parts of the country. Get more info about 3 places to visit in vatican city here.
